RaPaed-AIDA-TB will pursue three areas of capacity development

  1. Training in paediatric TB diagnostics for researchers and adjacent health facilities; headed by Prof Zar’s team (UCT). The program includes general teaching about diagnosing TB in children, study specific procedures, and hands- on training in sputum induction.
  2. Advice to national TB Programs on implementation of new tests and sampling strategies into national guidelines. Involving these policymakers will accelerate uptake of results and their translation into policy.
  3. RaPaed-AIDA-TB sponsors PhD or MSc courses for young African scientists, with a focus in accordance with the mission of the consortium.
